This morning started off as it usually does, running late for church. We entered the church and attempted to quickly drop Emmary off in her Sunday school class. As soon as we placed her over the baby gate into the room, tantrum time began. Tears began to roll and cries of horror bellowed out of her little body.
Emmary pleaded not to be left in her class, but we attempted to leave- knowing she would calm down once we were gone. When she saw us turning to walk away, she got a look on her face similar to that of a bull preparing to charge a matador. She ran for the baby gate blocking the door and pushed it down, freeing her from her class room. She immediately grabbed ahold of my legs and held on for dear life, all the time saying she was not staying in her class.
Her teacher assured us if we left her she would be okay, but looked relieved when we said we were going to take her with us. We enjoyed church service from a bench in the foyer this morning.
Later this evening, we were on our screened porch and Emmary was playing tea party. She was talking to Gordon and pouring him some delicious tea and she asked, "What have you been doing today, sir?" Gordon responded, "Not too much. How about you my lady?." Emmary said, "Today I decided not to go to Sunday school." Gordon asked, "Why did you do that?" Emmary looked up with her sneaky grin and said, "My heart told me not to."
